Auto Parent Categories for VirtueMart

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Add subcategory names 17 Feb 2015 18:30 #1

Hello,

Is there anyway I can add the name of each subcategory before the displayed products in the parent category?
For example, when accessing Category 1 (which has as subcategories "Subcategory 1, Subcategory 2 and Subcategory 3) to see the following:
Subcategory 1
- Product 1 - Product 2 -Product 3
Subcategory 2
- Product 1 - Product 2 - Product 3
Subcategory 3
- Product 1 - Product 2 - Product 3

Hope someone has a solution.

Regards,
Fuzy

Unfortunately, this is nothing my plugin can do. To the contrary: My plugin assigns also the parent category, so the reason the products are displayed is not because they are in the subcategories, but because they are in the currently viewed category.

To achieve what you want, you cannot use my plugin and leave the products only in the subcategories (but do NOT assign it the parent categories). You will then probably have to modify the category view to also display the products of the child categories. Unfortunately, I don't know whether there is already a template override or a module that does this...

Sorry,
Reinhold
