Add Buyers to Joomla Groups for VirtueMart

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Some question about Add Buyer to Joomla Groups Plu 31 Dec 2013 09:04 #1

Hi, some questions about Add Buyer to Joomla Groups Plugin

I wish to sell online courses subscriptions

1) Does this plugin handle the renewals of subscriptions to groups? I mean can your plugin manage automatically subscription expiry date?
2) Can it send automatically for example 3 days before the subscription will expire a mail to a shopper?
3) If not (question 2) should I have to handle everything manually or you can suggest me a Joomla extension that can do it, compatible with your plugin?
4) What happens if a user buys a subscription to a group and a month later he will buy another one? Your plugin will automatically assign to the same user to another user gruop?
5) I need something that allows users of Joomla classics (only name , user & password) to register for access for example to access to a forum, then if the user one month later the simple registration (no addres, no city datas, only name, user and password) wants to buy a subscription I need all the data for the invoice, I think I can do it with your plugin selling through virtuemart, is it correct? All his data will go in his user datas so next time he doesn’t have to fill every field again?

Thank you for your help.

Some question about Add Buyer to Joomla Groups Plu 31 Dec 2013 19:50 #2

Hi Francesco,

1) My plugin does not have any time-limits for group-membership. Once a user bought a product, he is added (or removed) to/from the (Joomla user or virtuemart shopper) group. There is no expiration of the membership.

2) Since the plugin does not support time-limited memberships, apparently there is no expiration mail

3) Sorry, but I'm not really aware of which subscription plugins are available. I needed the plugin to give buyers of a certain product access to e.g. the manual of the product on the server and to automatically give them them discounted prices on some other products. That is done via Joomla groups (the access to the manual) and via VirtueMart shopper groups (different prices for different shopper groups)

4) A user can be assined to multiple Joomla user groups. If the users buys a different product with a different Joomla user group assigned, he will be added to that group, an all other groups will be preserved.

5) The VirtueMart cart page saves all entered contact information together with the Virtuemart user, so when a user posts another order, the settings will be available.

Best regards and a happy new year,
Reinhold

Hi dear Reinhold, happy new year to you too!

I ask you, how much could it cost the customization of your plugin? I would
need an expiration field date and of course removing the user from the group
when the subscription has expired.

Yesterday I found out that with my Acymailing version I can automatically
send, for a specific VM product, a mail after a certain time since the order
status is confirmed. For example after 3 month.
In this way I could send an e-mail to invite the user of the subscription to
renew it.

I know it's a bit complex, but I would prefer to have a single shopping cart
on my site and not two carts, one for Virtuemart downloadable products and
an another one for example with Akeeba for subscriptions.
You had a very good idea to let people buy subscriptions also in Virtuemart,
it would be great to have the opportunity to manage the exipration date and
maybe I'm not the only one who could be interested in this new option.

Definitely it would also require to be able to send an automatic email close
to the deadline, I work out with it using AcyMailing, but it would become a
frequent request of the buyers of your plugin.

So, please let me know if you're interested in developing your plugin and
how much should I pay for customization for the field date and the remove
from group option. It 'also important for me to know the development time, I
would go online very soon with my newsite, I sell online courses and
downloadable courses of Tai Chi.

Of course I offer myself to test it and give you constant feedbacks if you
want.

Thank you Reinhold and re-happy new year!

Some question about Add Buyer to Joomla Groups Plu 11 Jan 2014 13:27 #4

Dear Francesco,
I never intended that plugin to be a full subscription-management tool with time-limited subscriptions etc. I mainly intended it to give buyers of a product access to certain parts of a homepage (e.g. user manuals for the purchased goods).
Turning it into a full-fledged subscription management tool is really out of scope for now (mainly due to time-constraints on my side).

Sorry,
Reinhold
