Advanced Ordernumbers for VirtueMart

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Possible to have two order number series? 29 Jun 2014 21:42 #1

Hi - this is a pre-sales questions - we sell two categories of products, boys products and girls products. There are 5 boys products and 5 girls products. We would like to have two independent series of numbers represent the order numbers. For example, for any boys products, the numbers should increase sequentially starting from 1, something like the year followed by the sequential order number: ie, 2014-boys#. And the same for the girls products: ie, 2104-girls#. Both boys and girls order numbers should start at order number 1 and increase by 1 with each order, independent of each other. Is this possible to configure using the VM2 ordernumber product?

It is possible to have multiple order number counters, but not with boys/girls as you suggest. You can have different counters e.g. depending on the state of the customer (with the format like "[year]-[country2]-#" the counter will run within the year and the country).

However, there is no way to make the counter run inside product categories of the order. One problem that might appear with your approach: What if a customer orders both boys and girls items?

So, sorry, your order numbers like 2014-boys# are not possible.

Best regards,
Reinhold
