Downloads for Sale for VirtueMart

We are currently unable to provide proper support!

For the last few months we have been very busy working on some huge, very time-consuming and time-sensitive projects, so our support was very limited and we were unable to provide proper support in our forums! We now have a huge backlog of requests from our customers, which we are trying to clear bit by bit. Unfortunately, this takes longer than we anticipated, so our response time is not yet up to par. We are trying our best to improve this situation as soon as possible.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding!

TOPIC: Page Format Question

Page Format Question 04 Feb 2015 22:39 #1

Following your suggestion we added an external menu link to the downloads page. Can you tell us how we can change the format of that page so that the button labeled "See Downloads" actually appears below the box to enter the order number and secret key and password and above the No Downloads Available statement that appears when not logged in.

Since we are not concerned with shipping addresses and billing information do you know of a way to hide those fields on the cart page for virtuemart?

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The password fields and the submit button are generated as <div> tags, the submit button has an id #com-form-order-submit, which you might use in your CSS stylesheet to adjust the button. If you find that you cannot use CSS alone, but need to adjust the html code of the page itself, you can follow the description in the documentation with the template file downloads.php:

The downloads page can be styled ("template overridden" in joomla terms) just like the download links. All you have to do is use the filename downloads.php instead of order_long.php etc.

Regarding the Shipping and Billing address, I don't really know a good solution, because VirtueMart requires a shipping address, so you cannot simply go and hide the whole address block via CSS. If you do so, VM will complain that your customer is supposed to enter an address, and it will still show the address input / account creation page.
Please also note that the EU has passed a new regulation so that starting from January 1, 2015, all sales of digital goods to the EU countries must be taxed with the tax rate of the customer (even if the seller is abroad, like in the US or in China). For this, there also need to be two proofs of residence, so if you sell downloads worldwide, you cannot ignore a billing address...
