With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.
It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

Using the standard version I have a rule:
Name=Extra charge for Rope; MaxLength==100; ExtraShippingCharge=4.1666667
Name=Shipping Band 3 order value £40 - £49.99 ; 40.00<=AmountWithTax<=49.99; 4.7946667
Name=Shipping Band 4 order value £50 - £59.99 ; 50.00<=AmountWithTax<=59.99; 5.625 which add an extra charge to orders containing a drum of rope (a drum of rope is the only product that has a length of 100m). The Name of the applied rule is displayed on the cart page, regardless of whether or not the ExtraShippingCharge is included in the cost. I would like a mechanism for alerting the shopper when the extra charge has been included in the shipping cost. So I would like to include extra text in the displayed Shipping Name as appropriate. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. |

Dear OptMax,
Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to display the name of an ExtraShippingCharge variable in the shipping name. There is a workaround, though: You can define a variable under the same conditions as the extra shipping charge and include that in the rule name: Name=Extra charge for Rope; MaxLength==100; ExtraShippingCharge=4.1666667
Variable=ExtraChargeText; Value=""
Variable=ExtraChargeText; MaxLength==100; Value=" (extra charge for ropes)"
Name="Shipping Band 3 order value £40 - £49.99{ExtraChargeText}"; 40.00<=AmountWithTax<=49.99; 4.7946667
Name="Shipping Band 4 order value £50 - £59.99{ExtraChargeText}"; 50.00<=AmountWithTax<=59.99; 5.625 By default ExtraChargeText will be "", so nothing will be appended. But when a rope is in the cart, then it is set to " (extra charge for ropes)". This variable is then included in all shipping names. Best regards, Reinhold |
