IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Plugin development ceased, all plugins made available freely (GPL)

With great sadness we have to announce that we are ceasing development of all our VirtueMart, WooCommerce and Joomla plugins. Effective immediately, all our plugins -- even those that were paid downloads -- are made available for free from our homepage (GPL license still applies), but we cannot and will not provide any support anymore.

It has been a great pleasure to be part of the thriving development communities of VirtueMart as well as WooCommerce. However, during the last year it became painstakingly clear that in addition to a full-time job, a young family and several other time-consuming hobbies at professional level (like being a professional singer) the plugin development and the support that it requires is not sustainable and is taking its toll. It has been an honor, but it is now time to say good bye!

How to see childs on parent at frontend pages? 28 Mar 2013 23:48 #1

Hi, i must say it is very useful plugin for me. But there is a little problem that I'd like to see child products on the parent product page (probably as a select list items) in site frontend..
So, it'll hide child products from main product list but shows them only in the parent product page.
Is it possible to enable this type of viewing? I couldn't find :(
Thanks..

Showing the child products on the parent's details page is nothing my plugin can achieve. The default template does not provide a straightforward way to show child products on the parent product's details page. There are, however, several ways to do that:
  • Use a "Generic child variant" custom field (built-in into the VM core) as described in the VM forum here , here and here
  • If you prefer a nice table layout where you can add multiple child products to the cart at once, then use a custom field plugin like the catproduct plugin
  • Override the productdetails view in your template and modify the code to loop over the product's children (this is most flexible, but also the most work, and probably not needed, as you can probably achieve what you want with a custom field as described above)
